Best comic books?

Question:
A question for everyone who has been reading comics for at least a decade. I've been reading comics for over 30 years, and I'm curious as to which DC comics are considered to be the best and by whom.
I have a few on my list and I'd be interested in feedback on them.
In no particular order:
Kingdom Come The Dark Knight Returns Morrison's Sandman run Morrison's JLA run Morrison's Animal Man run Arkham Asylum The Killing Joke Alan Moore's Swamp Thing Watchmen Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? V for Vendetta DC 1 Million Black Orchid Death: The High Cost of Living Preacher Garth Ennis' Hellblazer Batman: Year One
There are many Marvel comics that would be on the list also, such as Miller's Daredevil, Stan Lee and John Romita's Spider-man run, The Lee/Kirby-Lee/Buscema FF run, Marvels, the Busiek Avengers stories..etc...but I guess I should limit this to DC comics and approach the other forum later.

Answer:
I think it's a no-brainer. Gaimain's Sandman series is easily the best comic series of the past few decades, possibly the best comic series ever produced. It was both a critical and a commerical success and had a great amount of impact which reached well beyond the normally insular genre of comics.
