Is comic book art line art?

Question:
Sorry if this is obvious, just saw a reference to comic book art as line art and I had never heard the term (line art.) I read a little bit about it on Wikipedia. Thought I'd ask here to see.

Answer:
-Some are. Some aren't. Line art doesn't do the third dimension. Once you start adding shading and gradient colours, it ceases to be line art. At some point in their creation, practically all comics are line art. Best examples of line art comics would be BONE, CEREBUS, and SIN CITY.

-"Line art" refers to solid black and white art that doesn't need a line screen to print - so no grays (unless they're "tone sheets" - fields of black dots that simulate a gray) and no colors. It's really a pre-press/printer's term. Most comics are still "line art" that has color added. Painted or heavily computerized art would not be line art.
