Bally Fathom pin named after a Comic Book Character?

Question:
I've heard of the Bally Fathom pin, but have not played one & have only seen pics of the backglass with the female and seen posts about the voice saying something about saving a drowning player/person.
I got something in the mail last week that has a BEAUTIFUL woman
(looks to be african-american as opposed to caucasian) in a very revealing blue bikini with what appears to be a knife on the right thigh. Hair is dark with blue waves.
You can purchase this Fathom Statue for $175 (15" tall)...maybe as one of those toppers on the backbox that people are doing.
They are also selling a comic book that contains the characters Witchblade & Laura Croft. The company is THINGS TO COME or COLLECTORS GALAXY INC PO Box 917 Hunt Valley MD 21030-0917.
Anyway...the article goes on to say Fathom was created by Michael Turner and that Fathom is an alluring deep-sea heroine. Fathom's name is ASPEN MATTHEWS.
* Is the Bally Fathom pin based off of the Fathom comic book?
* When was the comic book released/published?
* Marvel or DC or some other brand?
I don't remember seeing this comic book as a kid (I'm 37 yrs old) and I read A LOT of comic books when I was younger, mostly Spidy, Fantastic Four, Batman, Superman, Thor, Iron Man, Green Latern, Captain America, Hulk etc.

Answer:
No, there's no relation between the pin (which arrived in 1981) and Fathom the comic book, which started about 2-3 years ago. The comic has great graphics too, and has been pretty popular.
