But of course, this must be a joke because Bond is not a comic book
hero. He had no origin in comic books and doesn't even have an ongoing
comic book series. The few limited runs he's had were fleeting
ventures at best with little or no impact, at least in North America.
And yet, the story claims that he's even more popular than Spiderman
and Superman, characters who have been around in comics for 45 to 70
years, respectively. Why do they publish this hyperbolic nonsense?
Guess that's what happens when some people get Casino Royale fever.
Hey, I liked CR and Bond had some great early movies, but let's get
real: he's not a comic book hero of any magnitude approaching Spiderman
or Superman. Ridiculous stuff.
Answer:
-That's true. Bond isn't a comic book hero, though there are lots of James
Bond comic books. I wouldn't be suprised if there were over 1000 different
James Bond comic books printed over the years. In Scandavia, they released a
whole slew of comicbooks. Some of them are pretty nice. Also, the Fleming
novels have been made into comics for newspapers and the Dutch Newspaper:
'De Telegraaf' used to have them in the mid nineties.
-The author of the story incorrectly used the words "comic book" when
explaining the poll. The poll being referenced was for action heroes in
general and included several non-comic characters. This had nothing to do
with so-called "Casino Royale fever," but rather with a sloppy journalist
not bothering to read properly what he was referencing.
