Question:
Id just like to know with all the technological advances could one make
a copy of a comic book say 20-30 years old on a computer providing
they had the correct paper and not tell the difference from the
original?I think it can be done.Anyone cuiroius?
Answer:
-Only if you know how to age the paper. to get the correct "yellow" tone The
printing technology was rather crude back then and I am sure you could
easily duplicate it.
The only catch is that if you use computer you can always tell that the
image was digitally scanned.
-There does seem to be three lines of thought at work here.
(1) collectable comics are bought and sold either by 'pure' traders who
don't give a monkey's what's between the covers but want to make a
profit by finding a buyer.
and
(2) collectable comics are appreciated for what they are - rare items
with great stories that look great when shown to friends who enjoy the
same hobbies.
and
(3) people who want to read stories but don't give a f*** how rare or
common a comic is.
Is scanning comics a copyright infringement or simply re-distributing a
good comic that is now out of print and never likely to be reprinted?
